Formed in 1971, Drums Corp International is a non-profit organization that governs some of the most talented drum and bugle corps in the world.
Drum Corps are specialized marching bands consisting of brass and percussion instruments. These corps are made up of young musicians who are all under the age of twenty-two. Based out of Indianapolis, DCI has offered a platform for young musicians to display their talent for over 5 decades.
The mission of DCI is to bring the life-enriching benefits and enjoyment of marching music performing to more people worldwide. DCI has managed to accomplish this by offering a platform for participating organizations to engage in and showcase their abilities worldwide.
DCI has been able to establish an impressive following over the years of competition. More than 400,000 fans come to see this showcase of young talent live throughout the summer every year.
The DCI Summer Tour has been hitting venues across the country, with over 100 competitions taking place in June and July. Each Corp travels the country honing their skills as they approach August. All leading up to the final showdown in Lucas Oil Stadium.
Forty corps will hit the turf for the preliminary rounds, where judges will vote on the top twenty-five performing teams to move on to the semi-final round. These corps will then compete for a spot in the Finals, where only the top twelve corps are represented. Finally, after another performance from each of the twelve-remaining corps, a champion will be crowned.
Tune in August 10-12 to witness a #MoreThanAField moment and see who will be crowned the next DCI World Champion.
